As a teaching assistant for CM 1020 at LSU, I was given the opportunity to not only help students in this course, but also enhance my skills as well. This position allowed me to better my communication skills by creating an environment full of students with different communication and learning styles. It also helped me develop my SolidWorks knowledge past the introductory information I learned while first taking the class and become more familiar with 3D printing applications and technology.

Serving as an Outreach Chair for the Society of Women Engineers at LSU was a truly enriching experience. It taught me how to work with others, as I was the chair with another one of the women in the organization, how to coordinate events across different organizations at LSU, and how to adapt to the mindset of the different engineering disciples, as this was an inter-disciplinary group. I was also giving the privilege to attend the SWE Regional Conference in Austin, TX. This experience was an opportunity to bond with and learn from future SWE leaders, not only at my university, but colleges across the region.

When I first joined the College of Engineering at LSU, I was in awe of the opportunities opened for me to explore. The most interesting of these opportunities was the Socity of Peer Mentors, which I was excited to join. Through this organization, I was able to attend outreaches, such as Encounter Engineering camp and Shell Stem Showdown. The camp was offered to incoming engineering freshman in order to acclimate them to LSU's College of Engineering, as well as college life in general. I truly enjoyed getting to know the young future engineers, and I have held much pride watching these students grow in their careers. Shell Stem Showdown is a program where LSU engineering students mentor a team from a local high school in an engineering competition in New Orleans, LA. The showdown was incredibly inspirational for both the high school and college students involved, and is a great way to promote stem careers for young adults.
